Furniture safety and aftercare
Instructions for use, care and safety of solid wood furniture
1. Recommendations for placing wooden furniture indoors
Furniture intended for indoor use should never be placed on balconies, loggias, patios, or in rooms with high humidity (such as basements, bathrooms, etc.).
Do not place wooden furniture closer than 1 metre to open flames, radiators, other heating appliances, air conditioners, humidifiers, ovens left open for extended periods, or any devices that may significantly affect room temperature and humidity. Such conditions can lead to drying out or excessive moisture absorption, cracking, and warping of the wood.
2. Storage and operating conditions
Wood is a natural material that reacts to environmental conditions. Therefore, direct sunlight should be avoided, as it can alter the colour and texture of the wood. Furniture should be placed in areas with moderate, stable temperatures. Sudden temperature changes can severely affect solid wood furniture. The internal moisture reacts to these changes — the wood expands or contracts, which can lead to warping.
Natural wood easily and quickly absorbs moisture from the surrounding air — and releases it just as easily. If the humidity is too high, the wood absorbs too much moisture, causing the surface to swell or deform. If the humidity is too low, the wood begins to dry out by releasing moisture, which can lead to cracking.
3. Care for wooden surfaces
To preserve the natural beauty of the wood, clean it regularly with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. For stubborn stains, you may use a cloth soaked in mild soapy water, followed by wiping the surface dry. We recommend cleaning the surface promptly after staining to prevent the stain from penetrating the wood fibres.
Do not use aggressive chemicals or abrasive materials. To protect the surface, use special wood polishes, ensuring they do not contain any harmful ingredients.
4. Avoid mechanical damage
Solid wood furniture should be protected from strong mechanical impacts that can cause damage. Wooden surfaces are not resistant to cuts, dents, or scratches. Therefore, we recommend treating such surfaces with care and taking steps to prevent potential damage.
Hot or wet dishes should not be placed directly on wooden surfaces. When using markers, pens, or paint, ensure the wood is protected to avoid potential staining.
5. Maintenance of mechanical components
The mechanical components of the furniture (hinges, runners) require regular maintenance. Lubricate them with appropriate products and check them periodically for wear and tear. This will help prevent squeaking and prolong their lifespan.
Important safety warnings
⚠ Safety and stability: Ensure that all furniture is placed on a level surface to prevent wobbling or tipping over.
⚠ Load limits and overloading: Do not exceed the recommended load capacity of the furniture to avoid breakage or deformation.
⚠ Regular inspection of fasteners: Check the furniture’s fasteners and joints regularly to avoid loosening or potentially hazardous damage.
